Arise, Sir Tax Avoider

Lewis Hamilton is an incredibly successful F1 racing car driver. His skill has made him world famous, as well as very, very rich.

Much is made of his humble background, and how he overcame that to be able to set an example to other young black people in Britain and elsewhere.

Today, he has been made a Knight of the Realm, in the New Year Honours List.

Sir Lewis Hamilton.

He has indeed set a great example with his driving, his respectful demeanour, and his entrepreneurial business sense.

But he has also set another example, that of how to become even richer by not paying the correct amount of income tax on his earnings.

And he doesn’t even live in Britain any longer.

He has learned well from so many other rich Tories and tax-avoiding businessmen, pop stars, and other celebrities.

And like so many of those, he has been duly rewarded with his knighthood.

Compare that to Captain Tom.

So many of those honours and awards are given to rich people and celebrities who live abroad so as not to pay tax. Sean Connery was another good example. And he campaigned for an independent Scotland, even though he lived in Europe.
      Best wishes, Pete.

“Critics of the Stevenage-born driver have accused him of dodging tax in the UK, but it is an allegation that is simply not true. Hamilton pays tax through his Mercedes employment, with the team based in Brackley, and due to F1’s global travel, he ends up paying tax all over the world. In 2019, it was revealed that Hamilton was among the top 5,000 highest taxpayers in Britain.

“What people don’t realise is that I pay tax here, but I don’t earn all my money here,” Hamilton told the Sunday Times in 2017 in defence of the inaccurate accusations.

“I race in 19 different countries, so I earn my money in 20 different places and I pay tax in several different places, and I pay a lot here as well.”
He has also set up and paid for a training school for motor sports for kids who wouldn’t be able to afford it otherwise and this is what has driven him to do so well this year.

I think there are better targets to focus your tax dodging ire upon. Give the guy a break.

Sickens me. All these rich people who avoid paying their taxes in Britain and then get rewarded? For what? I am so over this knighthood malarky. In fact at the moment I am pretty much over everything. I just want to crawl under my duvet and sleep until Easter.

Sounds about right…..give honors to those that least deserve it….what has he done for the nation? He lives in Monaco basically to avoid taxes….like Sean Connery and Johnny Depp….they deserve no accolades. chuq
